It is important shortfalls in the waste management system are understood and planning is aware of needs. Residents of Wilmslow and Poynton as examples have to travel distances to dispose of waste in excess of CEC collections. We are supportive of government legislation that will improve recycling etc.

The vision for Wilmslow is to improve the flow of traffic through the town, to improve parking, to control traffic to enable new layout of leisure spaces. Traffic free zones etc. At RoW we are supportive of active travel. Of speed restrictions too. Shared space like Poynton is attractive.

Public transport needs a serious rethink as does safe passage from outlying new housing estates for pedestrians and those with mobility needs.

Paragraph 5.97 says it all. Protection of the natural environment is number one in any surveys we have carried out amongst Wilmslow residents. To them it is everything the Green Belt has to offer. Every planning application must show how a 10% gain in biodiversity is to be met. Any exporting that has to happen must be achieved within, or close to, the settlement edge.

Paragraph 5.105 is key. A local plan must seek to promote healthy living with medical and social care infrastructure in place in sufficient quantity and quality to meet all health and welfare needs.

Across most of CEC we are not subjected to high levels of pollution. That said, there is much to be achieved in cleaning up our rivers and other water courses. It is not just a case of protecting human beings, but of raising maintaining water ecosystems to add to biodiversity gains. In all of this local plans need to address overspill form sewage systems and surface water run-off.

The list is about right. The solutions to bring about safer communities are complex and changing with a growing and diverse population. It is clear that all of the services involved are under resourced with practices that need constant review. It is an infrastructure issue.

The pursuit of net zero is to be welcomed in terms of future generations. That said, it appears this is bringing heavy costs to communities with the poorest people suffering most. New and as yet unknown innovations and technology will reduce the carbon footprint. Taking care of peatlands is a natural important process that needs to be addressed in this new local plan.

In support of National policy this new Local plan needs to make demands on developers to plan ahead and meet standards above those expected in the current Plan. As well as meeting higher heat insulation standards in advance when known, the same is now required of keeping homes and work places cool.

Trees in town centres and along roads, footpaths and cycleways need to be planted. Fountains and bodies of water need to be created and maintained as safe provision etc.
