Alsager is fortunate in having the Civic Centre , Library and Council Offices as a community hub (5.119) and the Town Council is seeking to support its development and enhance access.
It is also fortunate that the Sports Hub on the former MMU site goes some way to delivery of National Policy as outlined in 5.120.
Through our Environment and Open Space working group, ATC seeks to maintain 'a network of high quality open spaces' in the interests of both the natural environment and health and wellbeing. There is, however, concern about further loss of open and green space.

ATC welcomes the commitment to conservation of historic environment. One such building in Alsager, The Old Mill, is in the middle of a conservation area (designated by CWT) adjacent to Hall Farm with its ecological richness extending from the Plough inn. Unfortunately it has been vacant for some time and subject to some vandalism. ATC would welcome policy initiatives that might address this situation.

There are some key areas here in which community engagement will be important without which the local Authority will be seen to be handing down and imposing decisions, thus making engagement irrelevant and meaningless. Some examples are: Determining site allocations; habitat regulations assessment; housing needs assessment; Infrastructure Delivery Plan; Highways Network modelling; strategic green gap review.
If communities are to be engaged they have to have an understanding of what is Involved and feel that the engagement is serious.
