Local plan scoping consultation

Sensitivity is needed when deciding where to put industrial premises. There appears to be plenty of industrial sites already in Cheshire East. Data centres need a lot of water & should not be prioritised over domestic use. Also extra freight would be difficult in areas where the traffic is already gridlocked.

Cheshire East is home to many rare species of flora & fauna. Therefore it is crucial that wildlife & wildlife corridors are safeguarded for future generations.

Cheshire East does have a wonderful heritage, culture & natural environment. However it should be noted that all these are under threat. Jodrell Bank faces closure. The canal & river network has been unnavigable this summer owing to water shortage & climate change. The Cheshire Plains are renowned for being incredibly fertile grasslands for dairy cattle - but dairy farmers are paid a pittance for their milk. Therefore many have stopped milking cattle and either diversified or been forced to find other ways of making a living wage. 2.1% of borough in agricultural activities which is very small compared to countries such as France which has between 15% & 20%! If there is any threat of war in these difficult global times, one will need farmers & food security.
