Alsager Town Council supports the range of factors that will influence the distribution of development.
We have already been clear that infrastructure capacity should be a major consideration as well as open spaces and green infrastructure.
Our Housing Needs Analysis reveals an under-provision of affordable homes and homes with accessibility requirements.
Given the scale of development already, Alsager Town Council is concerned about the further possibility of densification.

Clearly, the NPPF will shape the Local Plan, especially the 'presumption' in favour of development, but we would encourage more local stress placed on the 'three interdependent core objectives' as carrying equal weight. Community health and wellbeing should be seen as a priority in all planning decisions. Environmental and ecological damage can rarely be repaired.

This is an important issue in Alsager, with demonstrable demand and need for affordable homes, as well as homes with accessibility adaptations for the elderly and disability.

A priority for Alsager, given its generational profile. Many people would like to continue living independently where possible rather than in residential care.
The response from a Developer Planning Officer to create some bungalows, for instance, on a large Alsager site, was 'there's not enough money in it.' Cheshire East Council as a Planning Authority should exercise its powers to change this situation.
The McCarthy Stone development of bungalows on a former brownfield site is, therefore, welcome to the community.

Gypsy and Traveller families have settled in Alsager and integrated into the community. There is a preference, therefore, to maintain a policy of integration in the interests especially of children and young people. The designation of sites, obviously, is a sensitive issue for all communities and there is some concern about segregation.
