NAPC will support the new local Plans commitment to protecting and enhancing the
natural environment. Our existing rural landscape is a highly valued asset to those
living in the parish. We would expect CEC to ensure that any potential development
adjacent to designated environmental assets positively enhance the natural
environment provide a minimum of 10% biodiversity net gain in the neighbourhood or
as close to it as possible.

Nether Alderley, set in the Green Belt has numerous PROW, and Alderley Park has opened up many well-kept woodland footpaths to the public. It also provides a gym facility, outdoor football, tennis and padel facilities and a Pub. The Village Hall
following on from its renovation has become a popular destination for several
wellness and yoga classes.
However, play areas for older children such as skate/stunt scooter/bike tracks similar
to Kidsgrove Pumptrack are lacking a perfect location in the parish would be at
Alderley Park where there currently no facilities specifically for children of any age

Nether Alderley features in the Domesday Book and has a long association with the
Stanley Family. The Parish although relatively small in scale has over 180 sites
recorded on the National Heritage Gateway which identifies 63 listed buildings,
mostly Grade II listed, although St Mary`s Church is Grade I listed. The PC would
welcome the new Local plan recognising important local heritage assets

Whilst the historic core of Nether Alderley is a recognised Conservation area, parts
of Alderley Park whilst having a cluster of listed buildings and structures is not. The
PC would like to see the new Local Plan look again at this when addressing any
future conservation area policy

In the Q and a following on from the CHALC online meeting of 11.8.26 several
people asked that some in person consultation at future stages might be considered.
Online and electronic discussion is all very well but not everyone can access. NAPC
suggests that during the process all CE parish and town councils are encouraged to
open their doors to host “Town Hall” type events, where members of the Local Plan
team can speak directly to residents. If more practical small neighbouring parish
councils can host a smaller number of joint events
