The respondent considers that new housing should not negatively affect existing residents and should be proportionate to the scale of existing communities. Development should take account of existing infrastructure capacity, including rail and bus services, schools, GP services and utilities such as mains drainage. They consider that Green Belt land should not be developed, with new housing instead directed towards available brownfield sites. They also state that any new housing should be compatible with the character and type of existing housing in the locality.
