It is very important that any development for older people considers how residents will access the facility, are there dropped kerbs for wheelchair users, is there a crossing to enable people to safely cross roads near the development. A retirement home in a rural area or one which is unsustainable will not meet the needs of its residents.

Too many HMOs near to each other cause concern, add to parking issues, as well as waste management and ASB problems. developers often state that the location is sustainable but in reality many tenants do need a vehicle.

There is a need for social housing, which gives people access to an affordable property to rent. Many young people, those who have separated later in life and homeless people able to manage their own property will not be in a position to apply for a mortgage or pay the rent private landlords charge. Affordable housing does not provide a safety net for those struggling to find a place, as the prices are still very high.

Derelict towns soon become a target for vandals, having a busy town with people living there decreases the challenges town centres face. There must be a mix of housing and shopping as well as medical facilities, entertainment and hospitality. Town centre housing increases footfall and in turn increases business opportunities. Town centre living must be carefully considered to ensure it benefits the area.

There are some areas of CE where people can live ten or more years longer than in other areas, we must incorporate more green spaces in developments, and town centres and save as much of the open countryside as possible. It is proven that those with access to open countryside lead a much healthier lifestyle. those in deprived urban areas must not suffer from developments without thought to green spaces.

Access to sport and leisure facilities is often beyond the financial reach of people in deprived areas. Access should be for all.
