I am very much aware of a high concentration of new builds and sites which have been approved but left undeveloped in certain areas. It is therefore very important to look at brownfield sites and encourage development in more urban areas. This will increase footfall in towns and is a more sustainable way of living with access to jobs, shops and medical facilities less long car journeys will be made, helping climate control.

Employees should be able to access employment sites as sustainably as possible. Not all employees drive. Employment sites must provide suitable public transport options in their applications.

As our green belt is diminished by developments the need for a robust EIA is essential and a Habitat Regulations assessment is extremely important. New builds are forcing wildlife into urban areas, their lack of habitat will only increase in the future and this should be mitigated against. a list of all endangered species should be on hand for the planning team and regularly updated.

The issue of deprived areas in Crewe having a higher number of children who can hope to attain the qualifications to work at any of the main employers of the area, Leighton Hospital and Bentley is a major setback in the aim to improve the lives of the local population.

The call out for sites has produced a large number of very speculative applications, depleting the green belt and the open countryside. New developments cause disruption for established communities some of whom have seen a vast increase in the number of properties in the area. Some communities have suffered constantly with new build after new build and the call for sites has led to many more prospective areas being considered.
The allocation of sites should consider the number of properties recently built.

The distance between Crewe and Haslington, Crewe and Shavington, and other settlements is narrowing to a very concerning small area. At all costs this should be protected, with the most stringent policy.

I am in favour of infill villages, allowing residents who live in small rural communities better access to affordable housing, so that children can purchase properties in their extended community not having to move away from their family network.

Houses are needed but these must be the properties which meet the requirements of the local community, starter homes, retirement complexes and supported living properties for those with learning difficulties and homeless people. A high concentration of developments in an area near to the settlement leads to drainage issues.
