We should be repurposing our struggling town centres eg. Macclesfield to provide suitable accommodation in well-connected transport hubs that already possess healthcare, shops, leisure facilities, cafes (!) etc. BEFORE considering destruction of farms and countryside especially on the scale proposed around the village of Adlington where we don't have a single shop let alone healthcare and suitable road network. Brownfield First!

I understand that, because housing targets are not met in the current plan, planning rejections by Cheshire East can be over-turned during the interim period with blatant disregard for the original reasons for rejection? Does this not give developers "open season" to force through building approvals against the recommendations of a democratically elected council experienced in local planning matters in the interim period before the New Local Plan is ready . I refer to Prestbury Road, Macclesfield, as a current example. How can we stop this happening in eg. Adlington? Hard to engage the public if treated like this.

The government approach is nonsensical. If there aren't enough affordable homes then we should not be building lots more unaffordable homes (to 1st time buyers). We should focus on building a sensible number of affordable homes that are genuinely affordable to 1st time buyers. More housing estates in what was the beautiful Cheshire countryside at price tags of £400K minimum serves nobody's interests except profit-hungry property developers and they'll stay hungry as the market dries up. The new homes should be on brownfield sites, helping to regenerate struggling town centres, close to existing transport hubs and all amenities.

Re- 3.7: Approval of building of housing in areas with poor local infrastructure just to help meet a numbers goal will not help anyone. At Adlington the current transport links (minimal railway service with inadequate car parking; country lanes that won't support more traffic) and complete lack of other local infrastructure (commercial/healthcare/leisure/high school etc.) would all need huge investment before further housing at scale could be supported. We need to consider brownfield first and be infrastructure-led.

I think the council needs to be proactive in encouraging brownfield developments because developers will always choose the cheaper, more profitable projects. Business properties that stand empty in town centres could offer opportunities, or long-derelict sites.

N-S connections tend to be the best. E-W connections are more problematic, particularly on the edge of the Peak District. Narrow, hilly and winding routes are typical to the East into Derbyshire, particularly from Adlington, Bollington and Poynton such that the A6 through High Lane, Disley etc. is regularly at a standstill even before a big expansion in housing. From Adlington/Bollington the routes through Pott Shrigley and Blaze Hill are almost single track in places. Likewise Roundy, Sugar, Holehouse, Cawley and Springbank Lanes and Pedley Hill. Cyclists going uphill cause delays. Overtaking is dangerous. More traffic would be disastrous.

Access is difficult from the Peak District (and Sheffield) and more traffic from increased housing especially in rural areas with little or no infrastructure like Adlington will make it many-fold worse.

Ensure brownbelt sites are used before releasing any greenbelt. Proactively seek opportunities to help regenerate struggling town centres.
Protect working farms for livelihoods and food security and to preserve the precious rural areas that we still have in Cheshire East.
Ensure infrastructure is present at the outset or securely planned in to the earliest phase of development.

We need more control on the type of accommodation being provided. Homes affordable to 1st time buyers need to feature most prominently - and build them in the right places, close to amenities. Right homes in the Right place with the Right facilities - and prioritise brownfield. Avoid clogging up rural roads.
