This should be taken very seriously to prevent urban sprawl for example it would be very easy to see Congleton, Holmes Chapel and Sandbach coalescing without protecting the current green gaps, these not only protect the character an identity of the individual communities but they provide a refuge for nature and contribute to biodiversity. There are a number of nature reserves and SSSIs that should remain protected.

This is sensible and the current assessment is helpful. Local neighbourhood plans to be taken into account when assessing the tiers as these communities know best what facilities are actually available and the quality of transport and other links. For example, local churches are currently included as facilities but unless they are used as such this is meaningless. Schools, shops, pubs, cafes, good transport links (buses/trains - that are used) are good indicators

• Housing growth should only occur where roads, schools, healthcare and public transport are available or can realistically be provided.
• Infrastructure should be planned before or alongside development, not afterwards.

Development in open countryside should be restricted as it is now to conform with policy PG6. Unless these policies are taken seriously we will destroy significant parts of our natural environment. In addition, development in such areas is not sustainable housing without significant increase in the local infrastructure

This can only be true where there is or will be significant opportunities for employment. What will Cheshire East be doing to increase employment opportunities in some of the larger towns in the area.

These aspects are as important as developing new housing given that climate change is accelerating. Local nature reserves and SSSIs should remain protected.
