Objection-Proposed Ashley Development

Whilst we understand the need for new housing, and the Government is encouraging the building of new homes through its target of 1.5m new homes, the recent announcement of presumption in favour of new developments that are close to existing train stations, we feel that the current Tatton Estate proposals for Ashley are inappropriate because:

• There are no local amenities to support a vastly expanded village population - no schools, local shops etc.
• There is no bus service to connect the new community to other local communities, so residents will be largely reliant on using cars.
• Trains from Ashley station in each direction are currently only typically 1 an hour during the week, which isn't enough to promote a modal shift away from car usage.
• Access to the proposed sites is only possible using narrow, winding country lanes, none of which have dedicated cycle lanes, and many of which have poor and unlit footpath provision.
• The proposed land is Greenbelt
