The respondent strongly objects to the proposed 291-hectare development across 12 contiguous parcels at Ashley. They argue that the land is high-performing Green Belt rather than Grey Belt, preventing urban sprawl, maintaining separation between Greater Manchester and Cheshire and protecting productive farmland. They consider Ashley unsuitable for development on this scale due to its limited services, lack of bus provision, restricted rail connections and constrained road and bridge network. Further concerns include increased traffic, infrastructure and drainage pressures and potential harm to protected landscapes, wildlife habitats and listed buildings. The respondent requests that Green Belt protection be retained and the site rejected.
