I recognise the need for additional housing but have serious concerns about allocating approximately 165 hectares at Ashley. The land performs an important Green Belt function by maintaining settlement separation between Greater Manchester and Cheshire communities, while development would significantly affect rural character, landscape and agricultural land. I am concerned about highway capacity, limited public transport and increased car dependency, alongside pressure on healthcare, education, utilities and community infrastructure. Flood risk, drainage, biodiversity and the cumulative impacts of Manchester Airport and surrounding development also require assessment. I believe stronger evidence is required to demonstrate that the allocation is sustainable, justified and deliverable.
