Local plan scoping consultation

High Legh is a small rural village community surrounded by green belt and agricultural land. There are regularly slow moving farming vehicles and tractors using local roads.

I am absolutely opposed to the Parish Council of High Legh having to earmark any land within the village for potential housing or industrial development in Cheshire East.

Any proposed development of new houses or industry would considerably impact on our purposely chosen quiet life having lived here over 30 years and would not only breach our human rights, but be detrimental to village life as it is.

One of the suggested areas for housing is close to a fish pond and will affect the biodiversity and wildlife currently living there.

There is a lack of local infrastructure:
No GP of medical facilities.
Absence of Dental Practices.
Power supply - There are frequent power outages.
Water supply - we endure numerous problems with low water pressure which impacts dramatically on residents.
No bus or train service.
Small primary school.
Traffic congestion would increase with additional vehicles and there are already considerable problems when there are accidents/holdups on the M6, resulting in small country roads becoming rat-runs with speeding vehicles.

I am deeply concerned that this or any development prioritises housing over the fundamental rights of long standing residents to enjoy our area, open spaces and homes without excessive/additional noise, light pollution, loss of countryside views and privacy.

Wildlife is important to our environment - any development would have a dramatic impact on that.

Any new housing or industrial development should always be carried out on Brown Belt or the repurpose of derelict buildings. We must preserve our Green Belt for future generations.

I very much hope that Cheshire East will seriously consider my views and oppose any development.
