We appreciate the need for new homes and would support a development that maintained the character of the village and included the relevant infrastructure.

The proposal to build 11,000 houses would:

• Destroy Ashley as a village and, therefore a way of life;
• Use up agricultural green belt land at a time when food self-sufficiency is a growing problem in the UK;
• Require a very expensive supportive infrastructure; and
• Create a mobility problem, with far greater pressure on the road structure, and there is only a very limited train service in the village.
