The Council is preparing a Climate Change and Renewable Energy Study, and its proposed evidence base also includes infrastructure-related studies. The evidence base should not merely quantify renewable energy potential, it should assess:
- energy generation;
- electricity storage;
- gas storage;
- gas network infrastructure;
- hydrogen;
- low-carbon gases;
- electricity network infrastructure;
- energy system flexibility;
- interconnection requirements;
- energy security/resilience;
- opportunities for co-location;
- strategic infrastructure corridors; and
- the spatial implications of the transition to net zero.
