Forestry Commission supports the Cheshire East Local Plan and emphasises the need to protect and enhance woodland, ancient woodland, ancient trees and veteran trees. It highlights NPPF requirements that development causing loss or deterioration of these irreplaceable habitats should be refused except in wholly exceptional circumstances. The Forestry Commission encourages integrating Biodiversity Net Gain, tree planting and woodland creation into development plans, noting their benefits for biodiversity, climate resilience, flood mitigation, air quality, and community wellbeing. It recommends that planning decisions reflect its Standing Advice and supports ongoing collaboration with the Council.
