The quality of the Local Plan will depend on the evidence on which it is based. It must therefore be informed by robust evidence. The Local Nature Recovery Strategy should be a key document backed up by further mapping based on local knowledge (including input from local community groups etc) showing all areas important for biodiversity, climate-mitigation, recreation etc beyond designated sites. Other examples of key evidence include fit-for-purpose traffic surveys undertaken at appropriate times to accurately reflect the pressure of traffic at peak times; peatland map etc.

The Cheshire East Landscape Character Assessment should be reviewed as part of the Local Plan process. In particular Danes Moss North, an area of high quality landscape including historic moss rooms, should be reinstated as part of the Danes Moss Landscape Character Area. The Landscape Character Assessment should be an important document in guiding decisions about further development. It should inform planning decisions not be informed by planning decisions.
