First Draft Local List Supplementary Planning Document

Identification

Representation ID: 29

Received: 10/06/2025

Respondent: Canal & River Trust

Representation Summary:

It would be helpful if structures that are on the local list are accurately located (para 11.4 refers). The existing local list identifies them using postal address which is not always an accurate method of locating structures which may be rural and have no postal address. A twelve-figure easting and northing would be helpful where there is no postal address.

Thank you for your consultation. These representations are made on behalf on the Canal & River Trust.

The Canal & River Trust is the third largest heritage estate in UK and is a unique historic network, over 250 years old, that still functions today and provides a real, working collection of heritage assets.
Within the 115km of canals with Cheshire East, a large proportion of the Macclesfield Canal, Shropshire Union Canal and Trent & Mersey Canal form designated canal conservation areas which identify the special historic qualities of these canal stretches, and our network contains numerous listed structures and scheduled ancient monuments.
It would be helpful if structures that are on the local list are accurately located (para 11.4 refers to a street address). The existing local list identifies them using postal address which is not always an accurate method of locating structures which may be rural and have no postal address. A twelve-figure easting and northing would be helpful where there is no postal address.
I hope these comments are helpful.
Kind regards
