There are some key policies of the current Local Plan which must be reinforced. Policies LPS4 and LPS5 sought to safeguard the open countryside between Leighton, the Hospital and the village of Bradfield Green. The current site submissions seek to wholly encompass the village with housing and mixed use development. Despite the recent road infrastructure, capacity on the A530 has not increased and the new infrastructure is visibly crumbling. Development in North West Crewe fails the locational tests in the NPPF of brownfield first, location near appropriate infrastructure and impact on wildlife and habitats.

North west Crewe cannot become the dumping ground for new housing. The sites put forward on the call for sites document wholly absorb the village of Bradfield Green and are contrary to the current Local Plan Policies LPS4 & LPS5 and the NPPF. This area has taken its fair share of housing and with the new hospital representing the tallest occupied building in Cheshire no consideration has been given to the cumulative impacts of development in the open countryside.

The strategic environmental assessment must look at the cumulative impact of development proposals including recently approved and current developments. The impact on wildlife around Bradfield Green has already been damaging and the current call for sites map will wholly encompass the village.

This is critical. North West Crewe would appear to becoming the dumping ground for development, ignoring the policies of the current adopted local plan. The areas submitted of the call for sites map would wholly absorb the village of Bradfield Green in wholly the wrong direction

Development in open countryside should reflect the current policies in the adopted local plan and safeguard village identity. Urban sprawl in to open countryside should be properly controlled and contained.
