The purpose of; preventing neighbouring towns from merging is worthless and offers no protection. For example, Prestbury, Alderley edge and Gawsworth are not towns. The nearest town is probably Stockport. This gives the green light to development of all land surrounding Macclesfield until at approaches an unspecified distance from Stockport. Please challenge this.

There seems to be little brownfield development going on locally. Developers are naturally going to propose greenbelt land for development as it is easier and cheaper. Please investigate ways of weighting development towards brownbelt.
Grey belt definitions are ludicrous. Locally a green belt garden was recently considered grey belt because it was in the curtilage of a bungalow. This would not have been the case in a built up area. Please put pressure on Government to review grey belt definitions.

Any new housing should take account of road capacity. Referring specifically to plots adjacent to Whirley Road, the current Bellway development was refused access to Whirley Road because of its unsuitability for increased traffic. At the Macclesfield end it is in effect single track and accidents have happened because of the narrowness. At the other end it becomes Whirley lane which is the shortest access to the A34 at Monks Heath and to Knutsford. It is used as a cut through. It is also largely single track with broken down edges and potholes for about 3/4 mile. Please assess this.

The definition of grey belt land is ambiguous and contradictory. A green belt garden counts as previously developed land because it is within the curtilage of a property. Previously developed land counts as grey belt. Until these nonsenses are addressed, there will be no confidence in planning departments.

Green recreational spaces also need to be protected. Regarding the field next to Whirley school in Macclesfield which has a footpath running through it; for the last 40 years it has widely been used for dog walking and children exploring. Periodically it has cattle in it but that does not seem to be a problem. It is perpetually in use. Please look at preserving this space.
