I object to the inclusion of the 12 contiguous parcels around Ashley, totalling 291.03 hectares, within the SHELAA and future Local Plan allocations. I consider strategic development fundamentally inappropriate due to Ashley’s rural character, Green Belt function and lack of infrastructure and sustainable transport. I am concerned about highway constraints, limited rail services, Manchester Airport safeguarding, flood risk and drainage, and impacts on biodiversity, landscape and heritage assets. Development would also result in substantial loss of productive Best and Most Versatile agricultural land. I believe the cumulative constraints make the land unsuitable, unavailable and undeliverable for strategic development.
