This representation strongly objects to the proposed large-scale housing development in Ashley. It argues that the scheme would result in the loss of high-quality agricultural land at a time of growing concerns over food security and increasing reliance on imported food. I wish to object very strongly to the proposed plan to build thousands of houses in Ashley.
1. It takes very good quality farmland out of productive use at a time when food sources are under great strain.We are importing more food which in itself is contrary to the aims of the government that we should grow more of our food.
2. The proposal is at odds with the Green Belt policies and would destroy a vital green fresh air lung for the surrounding conurbations. It is not environmentally friendly justified and would destroy many nesting breeding grounds and Woodland.It is the first really countryside this side of Manchester.
3. Access is already under severe strain, Ashley Road,Mill Lane and Mobberely Road are all incapable of taking any more traffic safely.
Last Sunday there was a accident between Ryecroft Lane and the Bollin Bridge resulting in the Road being closed for several hours.Which meant a very long detour through Ringway or Rostherne and Bowdon Roads that cannot cope with additional traffic.
4.There is no provision for schools Doctors or Shopping. Local hospitals are already stretched to their limits.
