Local plan scoping consultation

I am writing to record my objection to the above proposed development. This will involve yet more reduction of valued farmland, contribute to yet more urban sprawl of Macclesfield destroying its character and appearance. Just as Macclesfield Riverside Park is a much used recreation area, Penningtons Lane on the other side of town is a valued local amenity for dog walkers , other walkers, runners and families simply wishing to imbibe fresh air in green and pleasant surroundings. It is within walking distance of so many houses and its loss would constitute a diminution of the quality of life for the local residents. We are constantly exhorted to get out and walk for the benefit of our physical and mental health while at the same time the opportunities for us to do so are being greatly reduced.

Macclesfield has already suffered from recent heavy development on Chester Road, Leek Road , off Fence Avenue and elsewhere. It is time to stop building on our precious green spaces, consolidate and concentrate resources on the currently overstretched infrastructure .

There are plenty of other valid objections to the proposals such as ecological factors , drainage and infiltration and lack of information regarding local peat hydrology and site contamination which have been voiced elsewhere.

Please help us preserve our precious green spaces before they are gone for ever.
