It has come to the attention of the Neighbours in Springfield Road, Mayfield Road and Pavement Lane that Cheshire East Council are looking at the land behind Springfield Road and Mayfield Road in Mobberley as a possible site for new building – Site MB08.
We feel that this land would be totally unsuitable for building for the following reasons.
The fields are surrounded by narrow country lanes, which would not support the traffic resulting from further building. Their condition is already in need of repair or resurfacing and the building works and resulting traffic would be a huge contributor to their worsening.
Mobberley is a small historic village which is already subjected to the noise of the airport – if we are to believe the current information from Manchester Airport, expansion is inevitable over the coming years. Coupled with the noise of potential building works at the end of our gardens, the noise would be unbearable and prolonged. I believe that potential proposed new building sites have been rejected in the past, due to the noise levels from the airport. The situation has worsened since then, and is likely to worsen further in the future.
We understand that the land on Site MB08 is currently Green Belt Land and helps provide a vital gap between Knutsford and Mobberley. It essential to maintain this gap – so preventing “urban sprawl”
Springfield Road is not named this for nothing and most neighbours at the end of the cul-de-sac have had pumps installed in their gardens to prevent their property flooding. The fields behind these houses are extremely boggy in the winter and if the water table is disturbed by building works, it is worrying to know where it will go!
