United Utilities are considering my suggestion to use the former Acre Nook sand quarry, Lapwing Lane, Lower Withington, Cheshire (SJ825720) for water storage with a view to extraction for agricultural purposes.

Quarrying ceased in 2020 and the water level has been gradually rising since, but has not yet reached its projected depth. The waterbody is over a mile long and in these times of climate change and water shortages I feel it would a good use of this resource.
