Additional traffic would be channeled towards the Hockley junction, which is already a poor, and dangerous, junction where 4 different roads all converge into one. There is no additional space around the junction to ease these issues. Similarly, Park Lane is already effectively one-lane due to the residents parking on the street, an increase in traffic would be wholly irresponsible and dangerous in an area where many young school children and elderly have to cross the road.
There would be a significant reduction in public space, which is used by hundreds of people per day.
These fields and both former waste disposal as well as historic mining lands meaning the land is unsuitable for wide-scale development. This land also floods after even minimal rain fall which is evident at the frequent channels of water on the roadside of Towers Road.
There are numerous care homes in the immediate vicinity of the proposed site, and increase in traffic poses a significant threat to elderly using the local roads, pathways and public spaces.
Local services (schools, doctors, dentists) are already over subscribed, an increase of up to 400 houses would over burden already stretched services.
Significant variety of wildlife species would be impacted (owls, bats, badgers, fox, numerous species of wild birds).
Access to the development would require an accessway to be created opposite existing houses severely impacting privacy, security, pollution (both light and toxic).
