There is a "Trig Point" located in a field to the west of Gawsworth Rd. It was well chosen by the early surveyors as it gives excellent views of the local Pennines. Standing there you can see how Macclesfield sits in the landscape. We always depart with uplifted spirits, feeling a "sense of place" and belonging to the community. We urge councillors / planners preparing this plan to visit the site to see for yourselves.

With regard to natural assets and conversion to Grey Belt, the land bounded by the Weston Estate, Penningtons Lane and Gawsworth Rd contains a peat bog. Peat bogs have in recent years been recognised as the primary converter of CO2 from the atmosphere, surpassing mature woodland. No amount of tree planting offset will have a significant effect for decades to come. Please give due weight to the challenge of climate change, we are all affected, but our grandchildren significantly more so.
