Whilst I acknowledge the need for new homes, I am concerned that the new calculation methods result in a significant increase in the target number of new homes. This increase and any subsequent developments should not be at the expense of green belt land and protecting the natural environment

Cheshire East should challenge the governments revised targets for housing. A 146% increase in the target is extreme and cannot be met without potentially significant biodiversity loss, contributing to climate change or threat to green belt land

I welcome the proposal to establish a strategy to enhance the resilience and future viability of town centres, including exploring public realm . The decline of town centres is a pressing issue and must be addressed. As a local resident, I welcome the prioritisation of Macclesfield which sadly sees retail continue to decline with an increasingly negative impact on the town centre

Climate changes is a massive threat to current and future generations and is a real concern. I welcome the proposal to include a Climate Change and Renewable Energy Study as part of the evidence base for the Local Plan but this must not remain at the level of studies - it must be translated into action as a priority.

Cheshire East should reject ANY development on green belt land. The authority should be at the forefront of protecting irreplaceable habitats and all wildlife sites, ancient woodlands, SSIs or any areas of rich biodiversity. There should be no development on adjacent to peatlands. These are some of the places and assets that make Cheshire East such a rich and beautiful area. In the face of stark evidence of the effects of climate change the policy should make environmental protection & reversing biodiversity loss a key part of strategy and decision making
