Ashley does not have the infrastructure to support even a modest expansion into the land earmarked in the plan. The village...
- Has limited transport links: no bus service, no connection with Manchester's Bee network, low frequency of rail services, limited road capacity in all directions.
- Does not have a mains sewer connection.
- Has no amenities, shops etc.
- Has no public school, and schools in Trafford and Knutsford are overburdened.
Significant investment in all these areas would be needed for even a modest development in the village.
The land around the village is also not suitable for development:
- It is green belt
- it is prone to flooding, which would only get worse.
- it is valuable BMV farmland.
- it provides an ecologically diverse environment that would be harmed by extensive development.
