We strongly ask Cheshire East Council to retain the fields identified as CFS26 373 within the Green Belt.

These fields are an important part of the character of Mobberley and, for us, they are a place where we regularly see and enjoy wildlife. I have personally spotted several birds of prey over these fields, including Barn Owls and a Red Kite. The fields also host old oak trees and other wildlife including bats and hedgehogs etc. Seeing wildlife such as these using the area is a powerful reminder that this is living countryside, not simply an empty piece of land waiting to be built on.

The fields are also used and enjoyed by walkers every day, providing much-needed open space for exercise, fresh air and access to nature. Losing this countryside to housing would permanently change the rural character of the area and remove an important green space that is valued by the local community.

We are particularly concerned that development here would add further pressure to local roads and already constrained infrastructure, including drainage, sewerage, schools, healthcare and public transport. These impacts need to be properly assessed rather than treated as an afterthought.

There are brownfield and non-Green-Belt sites that should be prioritised before valuable open countryside is considered for development. I therefore ask Cheshire East Council to protect CFS26 373, retain it as Green Belt and recognise its importance to Mobberley’s wildlife, landscape and residents.

Once this countryside is built on, it is gone forever. Please protect it for the community and for the wildlife that already depends upon it.
