Residents of Haughton and Haughton Parish Meeting were not informed of the scoping consultation and as such have been denied an opportunity for meaningful early engagement in the process. We were not informed that land in our hamlet had been put forward and with such a tight deadline have not had the opportunity for extensive discussion as a community.

Haughton residents were not informed of the issues paper or call for sites in 2024 and 2026. This has denied the community the opportunity to discuss, evaluate and assess any land which has been put forward.
Haughton Parish Meeting should not be treated any different to a Parish Council when considering planning matters. Haughton Parish Meeting should be added to any consultee lists as a matter of urgency.

When CEC is already failing to meet the quota for new housing, how realistic is over 2500 houses per annum over the next few years. This seems an unrealistic target which is putting unnecessary stress on communities such as ours.

Haughton hamlet is sparse and linear in nature. Most of the existing housing is along two parallel narrow country lanes. Care must be exercised in order to ensure this unique character and nature is not lost forever in a push to meet housing targets.
Haughton contains an important Local Wildlife Site which has been recognised for over 20 years. Anything that could affect or damage this sensitive area of conservation should not be allowed.

Haughton is an area which is deeply rural and agricultural in nature and this should be recognised in any planning decisions made.

There is a Local Wildlife Site within Haughton which has been recognised for over 20 years and has the LWS reference CE376. Cheshire Wildlife Trust has been advising on the management of this land throughout this time. This is a rare remnant of moss land which acts as a stepping stone for wildlife and should be protected from encroaching developments which could change the ecology of the conservation area.

The two calls for sites exercises were carried out without consultation with Haughton Parish Meeting or its wider population. Land identified and put forward (Land to the North and Land to the South of Long Lane) during these calls are not suitable for development. They are wet areas which often suffer drainage issues and often have large areas under water for most of the year. The land to the north is adjacent to the Local Wildlife Site and any development would affect this important conservation area.

Haughton's infrastructure has gradually been diminished. We have lost the local school, post office, parish mission rooms and more recently the local pub closed. There is no public transport and residents primary method of transport is privately owned motor cars.

Haughton is situated in the countryside and boasts important areas for both wildlife and flora, including a recognised Local Wildlife Site. It is an area of active farming and agriculture contributing to the needs of the UK. This nature and character should be preserved and not damaged or changed by any development and building that takes place. Land submitted for consideration under the recent calls for sites are adjacent or near to the LWS and as such any development on them would be highly inappropriate.
