Proposed allocation of land at Ashley
I acknowledge there is potentially some scope to allocate land for housing at Ashley given its location to a railway station and other facilities. However, I do not agree with the extent of the suggested allocation and make the comments below.

Any allocation should:
- be proportionate to the size of the village and well related to it (which the suggested allocation is not)
- avoid any development north of the M56 as this is an important strategic and visual break from the Manchester conurbation and forms important Green Belt functions
- land should only be allocated for development which meets the specific tests of walkable distances to the railway
- be of a design that respects the character of the village and protects areas of important landscape and biodiversity value
- include the provision of open space
- provide footpath / cycle links to Hale
- make appropriate financial contributions to education, health, recreational space etc
- include affordable housing
- make appropriate infrastructure provision to serve the development and associated impact nearby
