I have reviewed the sites put forwardfor Haughton between 2024 and 2026 as part of your call for sites exercise - namely Land East of Ferret Oak Lane, Land East of Long Lane, Land North of Long lane, Land South of Long Lane, Land South of Moss Farm and I have concluded that all of these sites are wholly unsuitable for housing development. Haughton is a small rural hamlet surrounded by prime agricultural land, and has no infrastructure for larger scale housing development [no mains sewers, mains gas, limited access, no shops or other facilities and no public transport.

Whilst the need for more housing is acknowledged, climate change is perhaps even more important and is threatening our future food security as a nation - using prime farmland in Haughton for non-agricultural purposes would be madness when measured against this consideration

Haughton Moss is an area that merits continued environmental protection - indeed in 2015 one area of Haughton received a Local Wild Life Citation from Cheshire East CE376, SJ576 565. Area .82 hectares. 'An important site with a flora highly unusual for its locality. this site also supports good numbers of terrestial invertebrates

The five sites put forward for Haughton have very limited road access which has become very prone to flooding, no public transport, no mains sewers or mains gas and seems wholly unsuitable for new housing at scale

Haughton comprises of prime farmland and important natural environments [for example see Cheshire East Local Wildlife Citation CE 376. SJ576 565 2015]; it is vital that these areas are not used for housing

Climate change is now impacting food production in the UK - we cannot lose areas of farmland in Haughton to housing developments. Future food security needs to be the main priority

It is important that any existing counsellors with a potential beneficial interest [via marriage or otherwise]in any of the sites put forward by land owners make declarations of any such interest and are not involved in any further decision making. Cheshire East need to make it clear how it will ensure good governance in this regard
