Ashley, Mobberley and surrounding CE villages are under unsustainable environmental pressure due to their proximity to Manchester Airport. A recent report showed in 2025, flights from MA produced about 3m tonnes of CO2, the equivalent of around 1.5m cars a year and 1.7 times more CO2 than the entire city of Manchester.
The environmental impact must be considered in any future development, especially when plans include building on greenbelt land. The health and wellbeing of Cheshire East’s current and future residents, its wildlife and agriculture cannot be at the expense of reaching targets.
