Strategic housing development in Disley should not be supported without full consideration of the settlement’s significant and interconnected constraints.

The A6 already experiences severe congestion, with limited alternative routes, raising concerns about highway capacity, safety, air quality and additional traffic.

The Green Lane site has significant accessibility constraints: Green Lane is a narrow single-track road and the land has no suitable direct vehicular access. New access infrastructure would therefore be required, creating additional highway, environmental and construction impacts.

The site also provides valuable habitat for birds and local wildlife, contributing to the rural character and ecological connectivity of the area.
