Gawsworth does not have 'development needs'. It is a small semi-rural community. Further large scale development, particularly the sight near Lowes Lane will contribute to a degradation of the villages character and damage to the local community, additional pressure on already overwhelmed roads, not to mention the loss of arable land at a time where we produce so little of our own food. The field in question is regularly used for crops, namely corn. There will also be destruction of animal habitats that goes with the loss of agricultural land.

The proposed changes to green belt policy pose a serious threat to the character of our area. Allowing green belt boundaries to be redrawn to meet large-scale housing targets will inevitably lead to further loss of green belt land. This risks undermining the green belt’s original purpose of preventing urban sprawl and supporting well-defined, sustainable communities. We will also be loosing precious arable land when we are already only providing around 60% of what we need as a nation.

There is just the one council tip for miles with cars backed up down Congleton road already causing potential accidents, not to mention the increase in fly tipping. More houses, more people=more waste. In what way does this local plan improve the health or safety of anyone in the community? If CE is already incapable of providing employment for the 14.5% of people with economic inactivity, what makes them think this plan to overwhelm the area with people will create growth? This plan will not protect the historic environment of Gawsworth.

Not only is the proposed land in Gawsworth greenbelt but it is arable greenbelt. Without repeating myself too much, we can't feed all the UK population as it is without reducing the available arable land.

Brownfield regeneration is a sensible policy for making use of disused buildings and/or sites, in addition to reducing the need for building on green or open space.

There will not be economic growth, not just in Macclesfield but in the whole UK until the government reduce the burden for businesses. High energy costs due to net zero, business rates, NI etc. Many businesses, especially large corporates like AstraZeneca are actively reducing the British workforce by replacing them in cheaper countries where work can be done remotely and on line. Building more offices, laboratories, gigafactories won't change their thinking.

The creation of the combined authority is a disaster for local residents. Just as the abolition of the borough councils made local government less effective, so will the creation of an even larger combined authority. The needs of Cheshire will be subordinated to Warrington's. Its creation is to make the possibility of a Labour majority more likely.
