As a Hale resident, I strongly object to the proposed 291-hectare development at Ashley. This is valuable, productive Green Belt farmland that provides a vital buffer between Greater Manchester and Cheshire and should not be treated as Grey Belt. Ashley’s narrow rural roads, bridges, limited rail service and lack of buses make development on this scale unsustainable and car-dependent. It would place unacceptable pressure on traffic, drainage and local infrastructure, while harming landscapes, wildlife and heritage. My family walks, cycles and runs across this countryside, including my parents and children. This irreplaceable green space must be protected for future generations.
