We are totally opposed to Parish Council of High Legh having to allocate land within the village for potential development in Cheshire East which happens currently to be Green Belt.

The priority of any new housing developments should always be Brown Belt or the regeneration of derelict buildings not what is easier for a developer. We should retain green belt land for farming at all costs. We need to land to grow our own produce and reduce the carbon footprint.

To re-assign Green Belt land is irreversible and a constant attack of the heritage of centuries old landscapes in the countryside which should be preserved for future generations. Green fields have a positive effect on the eco system which is under constant attack from man made environmental issues.

The impact on High Legh for such a development in the future would be detrimental to the village as it currently is. Near one the suggested areas is a fishing pond which supports amphibians, aquatic insects and other species dependent on wet and damp habitats. Other wildlife including newts and woodpeckers have been seen in the area too.

The village has poor transportation links ie no bus service, so cars are essential. We have a couple of small farm shops. We regularly have power cuts, again the implications of this in the future would be dramatic with the increased housing and electric cars. We also regularly suffer from poor water pressure which can be evidenced by the apologetic emails from United Utilities. The main A50 going through the village can be impacted by problems on the M6, the surrounding roads being predominantly single track lanes.

The combination of re-assigning Green Belt land, the power problems, water issues, transportation together only a small nursery school, no medical services, the impact on the environment together the impact of noise pollution, light pollution, additional traffic, etc make the suggestion of a housing development in High Legh unrealistic.

I sincerely hope you will use common sense to reject any proposed new development in the village and look at establish towns in the area which have the transportation links, schools, medical facilities, shops, etc.
