Representation Summary:
The respondents, a group of local residents, object to the potential development of Green Belt land east of Fanny’s Croft (CFS26 368) as part of the Cheshire East Local Plan. They argue that Green Belt land should remain permanently open to prevent urban sprawl and believe no exceptional circumstances exist to justify its release for development. Issue
We are a group of local residents that are very concerned about the possibility of Green
Belt land being developed as part of Cheshire East' s Local Plan.
Why is this important?
Green Belt policy exists to prevent urban sprawl by keeping land permanently open.
It restricts inappropriate development. Green Belt land should only be released for
development when very special circumstances exist. As defenders of our local Green
Belt we feel these very special circumstances certainly do not exist to allow
development on Cheshire East' s Green Belt.

Land to the east of Fanny's Croft ST7 2QL - O.32ha (CFS26 368)
This site is Green Belt land (AS09) A as such certainly shouldn't be developed.
Green Belt land next to this site has recently been granted Planning in Principle (Planning
Application 26/1203/PIP) as it has been re-defined as so called Grey Belt land. In the
Delegated Officer Report it was clearly stated -
AS09
" It is therefore considered that allowing development on this small part of the
parcel, would not undermine the integrity of the rest of the parcel (AS09) or lead
to further pressure to allow development on it."
We sincerely hope that this case A that Cheshire East will NOT include further
Fanny's Croft Green Belt land in their Local Plan for possible development.
How should the Local Plan address this issue?
Cheshire East should do their upmost to avoid developing on Green Belt land.
If Green Belt land is to be developed in any way at all it should surely be for the benefit
of nature A the local community NOT for the benefit of a few local landowners keen to
personally profit from housing development on their land.
For instance parts of local Green Belt land could be used for community allotments or
community orchards. True community assets that would benefit the health A well being
of both nature A local residents.
