Green belt should not be used until brown sites have been exhausted. The green belt I’m concerned about in the plan I know to be peatland. The area has had soil testing and we were told by the contractor there was 8 meters of peat below. To destroy this would be catastrophic for the environment. The irony being also is a plan to put a pipeline in to remove and store co2 under the sea. I find this a complete contradiction
The land is still farmland used for grazing and production of silage for winter feed. It contains a vast array of wildlife including owls bats badgers foxes and many more species. All this would be lost if it was to be developed. The land is also used for leisure purposes. It is extensively used by walkers cyclists and dog walkers so very important for leisure purposes and mental wellbeing.
How the utilities will cope also is beyond me. We currently and have always had issues with water pressure so what another 300 homes would impact on the system catastrophically.
Finally the road system and infrastructure would not cope. We currently have massive queues on Congleton rd. The junctions of moss lane and the flower pot are not geared up for more traffic. We have problems also with vehicles at a standstill visiting the tip since other sites were closed.
