I strongly object to the proposed development around Ashley. These sites form an important part of the Green Belt, helping prevent urban sprawl and the merging of Greater Manchester with surrounding Cheshire villages. Developing this open countryside would permanently damage its rural character and result in the loss of valuable agricultural land. Ashley’s narrow roads, limited public transport and existing congestion cannot support large-scale housing growth. Development would also threaten wildlife, habitats, heritage assets and the Bollin Valley landscape. The scale of these proposals is inappropriate for Ashley and would fundamentally alter the character, setting and identity of the village.
