Local plan scoping consultation

Dear Planning Officer,

I am writing to strongly object to the proposed development on Ashley Green.As a local resident, I am concerned that this development will cause significant harm to our community and environment.

My main grounds for objection are

1. Loss of Green Space & Impact on Biodiversity
Ashley Green is a valuable area of green space that supports local wildlife and provides a vital habitat. Developing this land will result in irreversible loss of biodiversity, trees, and natural habitat that cannot be replaced.

2. Impact on Community Health & Wellbeing
This green space is used by local families, children, and dog walkers for recreation and exercise. Removing access will have a direct negative impact on physical and mental health for residents, especially children

3. Increased Traffic, Parking & Pollution
The proposed development will generate additional traffic on already congested local roads. This raises serious concerns about road safety, air pollution, and lack of parking for existing residents

4. Overdevelopment & Character of the Area
The scale and density of the proposal is out of keeping with the character of Ashley Green and surrounding streets. It will lead to overcrowding of local schools, GP surgeries, and other services

5. Climate & Flood Risk
Removing green space reduces natural drainage and increases flood risk and the urban heat island effect. We should be protecting green spaces, not concreting over them, given climate commitments

For these reasons I urge the council to refuse planning permission for this application

Ashley Green is a community asset and once it is gone, it cannot be replaced.

Please ensure resident objections are taken into account in the planning decision
