Subject: Formal Objection to Site Submission Address: Land to the west of Whirley Road, Macclesfield - 53.262299 , -2.173612
To Whom It May Concern:
I am writing to formally object to the proposed inclusion of site Land to the west of Whirley Road, Macclesfield - 53.262299 , -2.173612 in the strategic land availability assessment or upcoming Local Plan allocations.
This plot is entirely unsuitable for future development for the following material planning reasons:
• Highway Safety & Congestion: Local roads—specifically Whirley Road are already operating at or above capacity during peak times. Adding more vehicle movements will worsen safety especially near the school. At points along Whirley Road, it is a single-track road. There are also further traffic issues with the narrowing of the road due to parking alongside the Weavers Green development, the houses which back onto Whirley Road, use the road for parking, causing further obstructions on an already narrow stretch of road.
• Infrastructure Pressures: Local services, including nearby GP surgeries and schools, are oversubscribed. There is no evidence that local infrastructure can support an increase in population without failing, the addition of Weavers Green has already caused issues within this area.
• Environmental & Drainage Impact: The plot acts as a natural drainage basin., and a due to the surface water on the site, concrete coverage will increase local surface-water runoff and heighten flood risks to nearby properties. It also threatens local wildlife habitats and hedgerows. At Weavers Green the land backing onto this plot has also flood defence banking, and houses along that stretch are already experiencing flooding of gardens and subsidence.
Given these severe constraints, this land should be classed as unsuitable, unavailable, and undeliverable, and excluded from future plan allocations.
Yours faithfully,
