This needs to be considered once all avenues for the use of brown field, as well as taking care to support the local farming community and economy. Cheshire East is a renowned agricultural economy; the land is distinctive and any excursion into Green Belt should be carefully considered.

5.17: A definition of what exceptional circumstances are would be helpful. Consideration of the Green Infrastructure Framework as well as ensuring green space is accessible is important. Furthermore, maximising the existing highway infrastructure and reducing impact on smaller networks is vital.

5.47: A mix of housing within small sites and the encouragement to support all types of households is welcome. This must also be considered against supportive services and transport.

5.48: This element is probably the most important (and concern) to the existing residents.

There is lots of congestion around this area already. Particularly around the local schools/collages and where Congleton Road meets Park Lane. Additional housing will only exacerbate this congestion.

5.96: Access to green space is essential and any potential development site should consider Natural England’s (standards) and its impact on not just new but also existing residential areas to ensure their enjoyment is maintained.

5.97: Given the recent fires there should also be the consideration of maintaining natural wind breaks and wetland habitats.

5.98: Will the borough-wide Green Belt assessment identify areas of significance to be maintained?

The areas for housing should facilitate access to all services within walking distances as outlined in the Manual for Streets.
