When considering developments in the countryside and rural areas, high priority must be given to protect agricultural and food producing land from development. The drop in productivity during the recent drought has highlighted the UK's vulnerability when it comes to food security. Rural communities tend not to have the required infrastructure or facilities to support larger developments.
