Any new developments should not lead to the sprawl of settlements. New housing developments should not be to the detriment of the character & sustainability of settlements. Sandbach is already struggling to cope with the traffic along any route into & out of Sandbach

The draft for the new plan should be well publicised. This consultation has not been. Communities being directly impacted should have the opportunity at the earliest to be able to see & comment on any proposals.

Sandbach as well as other locations have already received a significant number of new houses being built. Any new developments must take into account this so as not to overwhelm services, infrastructure & loss of character. Sandbach secondary schools are already oversubscribed. Accessibility to & from & within sandbach in terms of roads is regularly problematic, worsened when there are issues on the M6 (which are frequent)

In theory the M6 is a significant transport network. In reality there are often issues on the M6 between j16 & 18 which leads to significant congestion in & around Sandbach, Middlewich and Holmes Chapel. At such times roads in & around these settlements are even more heavily congested with motorway traffic. Even without this traffic , getting from one side of sandbach to the other can take 20 mins.

This is because it doesn’t have any major urban areas / cities. This doesn’t mean it should become overdeveloped.

Maintaining the historic character of the settlements & also environmental & social sustainability should be priorities - once lost these cannot be regained.

This should be well publicised - unlike this current ‘consultation’ which local residents were not widely informed of. I only found out because of a poster a local resident had produced. This is not good enough.

How will the public be informed of this ? It is so important for local residents to feel part of the process & to feel they have some input
