Local plan scoping consultation

Dear Sirs

I write to you as a resident of Blakelow Road for the last 45 years. I have seen the details for the New Local plan - Call for Sites for the Blakelow Road/Buxton Road area of Macclesfield.

The green belt area currently houses sheep which graze on the fields. There is also at least one badger set in the field in front of our house. Many many local people gain pleasure from seeing Macclesfield Town in the distance. We oppose the plan on the following grounds:

1: The Green Belt at Blakelow Road protects the landscape, particularly where Green Belt land is topographically elevated and where built development will be particularly dominant.

2: The Green Belt along Blakelow Road is an important buffer and visual transition between the build environment and the open countryside.

3: The removal of the Green Belt along Blakelow Road will have a significant and negative visual impact on the landscape and the character of the surrounding area of Macclesfield. Indeed it is a viewpoint from “Sparrow Park” which many local residents and tourists enjoy.

4: The local planning authority needs to consider the development of brownfield and greenfield sites before considering the development of Green Belt land on Blakelow Road.

As regards to the new plan, we would like to retain the view, and have the boundary wall built up which has been reported to you since December 2023 - ref No 4604236 and ref 4776420
