Local plan scoping consultation

To Whom it May Concern

As a resident local to the green belt land adjacent to Blakelow Road and Leadbeaters reservoir, I would like to comment and object to this land being included in the new local plan for housing allocation.

We need to retain our beautiful greenbelt for both environmental and wellbeing reasons, instead identifying the plentiful local brownfield sites for redevelopment.

We have seen all sorts of species of insects and wildlife at this site and there are birds of prey nesting nearby, we regularly witness them hunting in the field.

As locals who have used the field for sledging, witnessing the recent solar eclipse (along with hundreds of others) and enjoying wildlife with our children, we urge the council to;

Consider the development of brownfield and greenfield sites before considering the development of Green Belt land.

Consider how the removal of Green Belt will have significant and negative visual impact on the landscape and the character of the surrounding area of Macclesfield.

The Green belt is an important buffer and visual transition between the built environment and open countryside.

The Green Belt protects the landscape, particularly where Green Belt land is topographically elevated, and where built environment will be particularly dominant.

Attached is a pic of the hundred or so local families who gathered to take in this beautiful view for the eclipse which would be obliterated with a housing development.

I do hope the comments of concerned local residents are taken onboard.
