Several sites in Goostrey have been submitted through the Call for Sites process, demonstrating continuing development pressure close to Jodrell Bank. The new Local Plan should retain and strengthen protection within the Jodrell Bank Consultation Zone, particularly against cumulative radio-frequency interference from housing and associated technology. Current uncertainty over e-MERLIN funding beyond 2028 must not justify weakening long-term planning safeguards. Jodrell Bank is an operational scientific facility, UNESCO World Heritage Site and strategic national asset, with emerging applications including satellite and space-debris tracking. Development decisions made now must not irreversibly compromise the Lovell Telescope's ability to continue or resume operations.

Goostrey's identification as a Local Service Centre should not be interpreted as meaning the village itself functions as a service centre or should therefore accommodate disproportionate development. As raised during preparation of the previous Local Plan, residents rely heavily on Holmes Chapel as their principal service centre, particularly for shopping, healthcare, secondary education and other everyday services. Goostrey has comparatively limited facilities and infrastructure. The settlement hierarchy should reflect this practical relationship and assess according to the services actually available within the village. Its Local Service Centre designation should not therefore be used to justify additional housing allocations in Goostrey.
